About Rhythm Rhyme
Each Rhythm Rhyme round starts with you tapping to play a recorded clip. You hear the pattern only one time, then repeat it by tapping the big button with the same timing. Your taps play the sound from the clip itself, so you might be recreating drum fills, doorbells, knocks on a door, Morse code or a hand-clapping game.
Five rhythms make up the day, presented as broadcasts on a radio station called AM 1270, and the set changes at midnight New York time. The goal is to reproduce the timing of the original. Since you only get a single listen, each round tests memory as much as it tests your sense of rhythm.
How to play
- Tap to play the rhythm and listen closely, since it plays only once.
- Tap the big button to repeat the pattern with the same timing.
- Finish all five rhythms to complete the day's set.
Tips
- Count along or hum the pattern under your breath while it plays, so you have something to repeat.
- Listen for the pauses as well as the sounds; the gaps between beats are part of the rhythm.
Time and controls
A round takes about 2–3 minutes. Tap the screen on a phone; on a computer, click the button or press Space.
