What riddl.ing is
riddl.ing is a riddle told in five clues, in which a mystery thing describes itself and leaves you to work out what it is. One riddle appears per day under its date, and it gets plainer with every clue added, so an early answer beats a late one.
How a round works
The page is plain text. An about note at the top sums up the rules in a line and credits natto games, and beneath it sits the riddle: a single clue to begin with, then the question of what the speaker is, then the date written year first. Name the thing if you can. If it does not come to you, the riddle grows, adding clues up to a total of five, and each new one makes the answer easier to see. Solving it while only the first clue or two are showing is the goal.
Good if you like…
- Ridella: Ridella is another riddle game, but written in rhyme: a wrong answer uncovers another line of a part-hidden verse, with four tries in all.
- Rung: Rung climbs the same ladder of five clues from cryptic to obvious and scores it openly: up to five points for an early answer, one lost per skip and two per miss.
- Kezaco?: Kezaco also unveils up to five clues one at a time, though its answer may be a famous person, a place or something that happened rather than a talking object.
- Thrice: Thrice pays for answering early too, on five trivia questions where a reply after one clue earns three points and each of up to two extra clues lowers that.
