What Daily Orbs is
Daily Orbs bundles four short trivia puzzles into each day's set, every one on a different subject and in a different format, and you choose which to tackle. Right answers fill orbs, three per puzzle, and gathering six of the twelve wins the day. The site still carries a beta label, and its About page says three people build and run it.
How a round works
The home screen lists the four puzzles by title with a one-line prompt for each; on November 4 they ran from pairing group names with animals to a ranking of the countries that generate the most hydroelectric power, shown as a table of figures with the names left blank. Open one and start answering. Every puzzle gives you three hearts, a wrong answer takes one, and losing all three locks that puzzle while keeping any orbs already filled. You can leave and return without losing progress, give up and reveal the answers without forfeiting orbs, or skip a puzzle. A countdown shows when the next set arrives.
Good if you like…
- Daily Tens: Daily Tens builds a whole game from the ranking type of puzzle seen in Daily Orbs: fill in a whole top ten on one subject, with five misses allowed and earlier lists archived.
- Factle: Factle is a single ranking question a day: put the top five answers in order within five attempts, with colors marking each as placed, misplaced or missing from the list.
- Trivia Gauntlet: Trivia Gauntlet also strings several quizzes into one sitting, seven of them, but uses a 20-second clock per question and ends each quiz at the first wrong answer instead of three hearts.
- Quiple: Quiple matches the sorting side of Daily Orbs, grouping trivia tiles by what links them, such as landmarks by country, with four wrong tries before the puzzle is over.
