What FilmLink is
FilmLink starts you at one film and asks you to reach a second, hidden one by hopping through the people who made them. Any credited name can serve as a bridge, from actors to directors and composers, and each day's route arrives with a short title of its own. The site uses film data from TMDb.
How a round works
Press start and the target title is revealed. From the opening film, choose someone from its cast or crew, then pick another movie that person is credited on, and keep alternating until the target turns up. The tutorial example goes from The Dark Knight to Christian Bale, then Ford v Ferrari, then Matt Damon, and finally Good Will Hunting, four links in all. Hard Mode, still marked beta, sets a par and rewards brief routes, obscure picks and crew links. Past days sit in a back catalogue split into Daily, Hard Mode and Special Puzzles, and replaying one leaves its original leaderboard alone. A ranked multiplayer mode pits you against another player.
Good if you like…
- Movie to Movie: Movie to Movie also links two films, but only through actors, and its goal is the shortest chain rather than a par score that counts crew credits.
- Typecasted: Typecasted runs the same start-to-target idea through shared cast in five steps, plus a race against the clock to stretch one chain of films as far as possible.
- Six Degrees: Six Degrees turns the route around, joining two actors through movies they made together, picking a shared film and a fellow actor at every hop, with fewer hops scoring higher.
- TV Circuit: TV Circuit applies the chain idea to television, linking two actors through series they appeared in, alternating show and cast member until you reach the second performer.
