About Halfway
Halfway shows a paper shape and asks you to divide it with one straight line. The goal might be two equal halves, or a piece that is exactly a third, a quarter or a tenth of the whole. You drag the cut across the shape and let go, and then you see how close your eye came to the share asked for.
A run keeps serving new shapes, drawn from a pool of 755, until three of your cuts are far off the mark. Halfway is not a daily puzzle, so you can begin another run the moment one ends and play as often as you want.
How to play
- Check which fraction the shape needs to be cut into.
- Drag one straight line through the shape where you think it divides correctly.
- Release to make the cut and see how close you came.
- Continue with new shapes until you have three cuts that miss badly.
Tips
- For a shape with a mirror line, cutting along that line gives two equal halves.
- For thirds or tenths, judge the small piece by area, not width, since narrow tips hold less than they look.
Time and controls
A round takes about 3–6 minutes a run. Drag a straight cut across the shape with a finger or mouse; P pauses on a computer.
