What vocalstim is
Song intros that cut out right before the singing are the core of vocalstim, a music timing game where you stop a clock at the moment the vocals would come in. Three well-known songs make up the main daily set, called Cue the Vocals, and a second daily mode, Letter Rip, sits beside it.
How a round works
Each song card names the track, artist, year and album, and prints the opening words of the vocal, so you know which line you are waiting for. Press the button to start the intro, keep the melody running in your head once the audio drops away, then press again to freeze the timer. A practice song that does not count shows how the timer, lyric cue and button work. Letter Rip flips the idea: you name a song from only the initials of its words, heard as clicks that carry the rhythm, with three guesses, 250 extra for answering before you start, and clues such as genre, album or artist that cost points.
Good if you like…
- Songless: Songless also draws on memory of real recordings but hides the title, asking you to name a track from a clip starting at 0.1 seconds; Cue the Vocals shows the song up front.
- Lyricle: Lyricle is the text-only cousin of Letter Rip: it shows a full line of lyrics and adds another after each miss or skip, instead of reducing words to their first letters.
- Musicle: Musicle works from short song clips too, matching each one to four possible titles, or placing six songs among nine in its Royale mode, with no timing element at all.
- Daily Jingle: Daily Jingle also trains your ear on a short tune, but you play the melody back note by note on a keypad covering C through B, with nothing to time.
