What Energle is
Energle describes a country only through its electricity and asks you to name it. The puzzle shows yearly generation in terawatt-hours, demand per person, the balance of imports and exports, a chart of output split by source, the current mix and the carbon intensity of each kilowatt-hour, mostly set beside world averages, with figures drawn chiefly from Ember.
How a round works
Six guesses are on offer, counted below the charts. Study the panels, flip the mix between individual sources and broader categories, then type a country and press Guess; each entry spends one of them. If you stall, the Clue Shop next to that button converts spare guesses into cards with clues on the mystery country, so every hint narrows your margin for error. Puzzles carry a number and a date. The archive lists each daily back to June 2, open to play if you missed one and shaded where it was solved on release day. Three names sit on a small podium above the tabs.
Good if you like…
- Chartle: Also a data puzzle about one country: a single statistic charted over time, like harvest output, conceals the answer, and each country you name adds its own line, within five guesses.
- Statameleon: Flips the setup: a world map is shaded by a hidden statistic, and the thing to name is that statistic rather than a country, with each guess's map compared.
- Wherestan: Keeps the six-guess hunt for a hidden country but rates each try on continent, population, area and neighbors, plus an arrow and a distance, in place of energy data.
- Originle: Another way to reach a country from indirect evidence, here a short video of a real person, with three guesses and extra clues that cost points.
