What Linxicon is
Two random words start out as the corner pieces of a Linxicon board, and the game is to join them with a web of other words, each close enough in meaning to its neighbors to form a link. Similarity is measured with word embeddings rather than spelling. Trainwreck Labs makes it, and there is one daily pair plus a practice mode you can replay freely.
How a round works
Each word you Add drops onto the board. If its similarity to a word already there tops 40 percent, a line joins them; if not, it sits alone. Clicking a word shows its similarity figures in a sidebar, and a status line reports the smallest gap still left between the corner pair. Fewer words is the goal, with a high average link strength as a stretch aim. A word holding many links can lose some, so chains beat a crowded middle. Entries need 3 to 15 letters and no proper nouns, hyphens, contractions or profanity. The game ends at 50 words; from 25 on, a Clue button suggests a word another player won with that day.
Good if you like…
- Word Chain: Word Chain sets up the same bridge between two unrelated words, such as candidate and construction, filled with linking words that each connect to a neighbor, in a single run instead of a web.
- Contexto: Contexto also judges words purely by closeness of meaning, but there is one secret word to find, and each guess earns a place in a ranking instead of a link on a board.
- Chainle: Chainle shares the meaning-based scoring, asking for one word that sits near several clue words together, over five rounds worth up to 5,000 points, rather than a path between two ends.
- Summit: Summit has the same step-by-step linking, five climbs a day from a starting word up toward the top, while Linxicon has to land on a second fixed word.
Who makes it
