What Poople is
A word ladder with a fixed finish, Poople deals you a fresh four-letter word daily and asks you to walk it, rung by rung, down to POOP. Moves alter one letter apiece, only dictionary words may appear on the ladder, and your result is judged against the shortest route that exists from that day's start.
How a round works
Today's starting word appears above an on-screen keyboard. Type the next rung, press Enter, and keep going until the ladder reaches POOP. Results are tracked as extra guesses, meaning steps beyond the shortest route, in a chart running from zero to six or more next to wins and streaks. The opening screen also looks back at the previous puzzle, giving the length of the quickest ladder, whether only one route matched it, and the ladder itself. The game began as a car-trip pastime the maker's father invented, first known as the to-poop game, and the About page tells that story.
Good if you like…
- Weaver: Uses the same one-letter rule and real words only, but both ends change daily, boards come in four and five letters, and an optimal move count is posted.
- SHITle: Shares the crude joke and the four-letter ladder, but SHIT is the destination, words such as BOWL serve as starts, and finishing within par is what counts.
- Poopdle - Word Ladder Game: Nearly the same premise on a separate site: get from the day's word to POOP by changing a letter per step, through real English words, toward the shortest route.
- Peele: A three-letter ladder whose last rung is always PEE, opening on words such as JOB, changing a letter each move and measured against par.
