The best daily sports games, league by league

Updated · By the Today's Dailies editors

Sports dailies mostly come in three shapes. A player guesser hides one athlete and compares every wrong name with the answer on team, position, age and the like. A grid asks for players who fit both a row and a column, such as a franchise and an award. And a few borrow other formats, from word groups to golf rounds you actually play.

The picks are sorted by sport, one to three for each, and every section links to the full list for that league. All of them are free in a browser.

Connections: Sports Edition

The New York Times · nytimes.com · Sports

The Athletic's version of Connections, with the same rules: sixteen sports terms to sort into four hidden groups of four. The NYT's help page adds that NFL-themed editions cover all 32 franchises and that the sports edition has no archive, so each puzzle is for its own day only.

Sportdle

sportdle.net · Sports

A hub of player guessers covering the NBA, NFL, NHL, the Premier League, Formula 1, UFC, tennis and chess, along with several esports. Most sports offer more than one daily mode, such as Classic, Career Path or Stat Line, so one site can fill the sports slot in a lineup on its own.

NFL

Every NFL daily listed here is on the NFL page.

Immaculate Grid: Pro Football

Sports Reference · sports-reference.com · Sports

Sports Reference's football grid: nine squares whose rows and columns name teams, colleges, awards or stat marks, and nine guesses to fill them. Unusual correct answers earn a better rarity score, and the rules settle tricky cases such as a season split between two teams. A new grid posts at 6:00 a.m. Eastern.

Weddle

weddlegame.com · Sports

Eight tries to identify a mystery NFL player, with each miss compared on details such as team and position. Hard and Pro Bowl versions sit beside the classic game, and there is a daily puzzle for each of the 32 clubs, which makes it easy to quiz yourself on your own team.

NBA

More basketball games, WNBA ones included, are on the basketball page.

Poeltl

poeltl.nbpa.com · Sports

The guessing game on the NBA players' union's own website. Eight tries to find one current player, and every wrong name is set beside the answer on seven details, from team and division to height and jersey number. A sensible first pick narrows the field fastest. New puzzle at midnight New York time.

Hoopgrids

hoopgrids.com · Sports

An NBA grid with no limit on guesses per square, so the challenge is finding rare answers rather than surviving. Each correct name earns a rarity tier based on how often others chose it, and Hint and Reverse modes change the goal. The board turns over at 8:00 p.m. New York time.

MLB

More baseball games are on the baseball page.

Immaculate Grid: Baseball

Sports Reference · sports-reference.com · Sports

The baseball grid from Sports Reference: nine squares, each crossing a team with another team or a category such as a position or a career mark, and nine guesses. A player only counts for a team if he appeared for it in at least one game, playoffs included. Previous grids and your stats are a tap away.

MLB Pickle

mlbpickle.com · Sports

Nine tries to find a mystery major leaguer, with each guess checked on team, league and division, batting and throwing hand, birthplace, age and position. A gold outline marks a near match, such as an age within two years, which keeps every guess useful.

Batter Up

batter-up.app · Sports

Shows only a dark silhouette of a hitter waiting in the batter's box, a short clip of his stance. Name the player, and each miss is compared with him on team, division, age and position. Fans who can tell swings apart by shape have an edge.

Soccer

More soccer games, from player guessers to career paths, are on the soccer page.

Who Are Ya

playfootball.games · Sports

Eight chances to name a soccer player from LaLiga, Ligue 1, Serie A or the Premier League. Start from a blurred photo or hide it and guess blind; each miss is compared on club, nationality, position, age and shirt number. Earlier days can be replayed, though they don't count toward your stats.

DailyPlay ↗

Futdoku

flagdoku.com · Sports

A three-by-three soccer grid whose headings mix clubs, leagues and tournament squads with rules about a player's name, such as the letter it ends on. Every square you fill correctly scores a point. A Save option gives you a private ID to restore progress on another device, with no account.

Immaculate Grid: Hockey

Sports Reference · sports-reference.com · Sports

NHL Wordle

draftchallenger.com · Sports

You get eight tries at the day's NHL player, and each pick is graded as a match, close or a miss on team, position, age and height. A Classic mode allows 15 guesses, and yesterday's player stays free to replay for several days if you miss one.

stewardle.com · Sports

Six tries to find the day's mystery driver among everyone who holds a permanent race number, which covers anyone who has raced in F1 since 2014. Tiles compare flag, team, car number, age, first season and race wins, and arrows say whether a number is too high or too low. It resets at midnight UTC.

Grand Prix Pin

grandprixpin.com · Sports

A map quiz for F1 fans: five questions a day on tracks, drivers and memorable moments from races, each answered by tapping the spot on the map where it took place. There is no golf page here yet; more golf games are on the sports shelf.

Daily 9

daily9.golf · Sports

Here you play golf rather than answer questions about it: nine new holes a day, with identical pin positions and wind for every player, each hole modeled on a real course from public map and height data. Only your first round counts, a full round runs around five minutes, and new holes arrive at 12:00 a.m. Central time.

Golf Connections

How these were picked

Every game here is listed on Today's Dailies, so it is free, plays in a web browser and needs no account for its daily puzzle. Links are checked every night, and reset times come only from a game's own site or countdown. Each sport gets one to three picks, chosen to show the different shapes its dailies take, and each section links to that sport's full list. All 17 picks were opened in a phone-sized browser between November 4 and November 5, 2026 and loaded, and each one fit the screen without sideways scrolling.

Questions

What is a sports Wordle?

Usually a player guesser: you name an athlete, and the game compares your pick with the hidden one on details such as team, position, age and height until you find the answer or run out of tries. Poeltl for the NBA, Weddle for the NFL, Who Are Ya? for soccer and Stewardle for Formula 1 all work this way.

What is an Immaculate Grid?

A three-by-three board from Sports Reference whose rows and columns are labeled with teams, awards or stat marks. Each square needs one player who fits both of its labels, and you get nine guesses for the nine squares. There are editions for baseball, pro football, hockey, men's and women's basketball, and soccer.

Can I play a sports daily I missed?

Some let you. Immaculate Grid keeps previous grids, Who Are Ya? lets you replay earlier days without counting them in your stats, and Golf Connections and NHL Wordle keep recent boards free for several days. Connections: Sports Edition has no archive, according to the NYT.
