What Glyph is
Glyph turns a hidden word into a single symbol by stacking all of its letters on one spot, first letter on top, so their strokes overlap into one tangled shape. You study that shape, enter words that might be inside it, and try to pull the answer back out in four attempts or fewer.
How a round works
A short tour opens the game, using PRINT as its sample glyph. Type any word, not necessarily the answer, and press Decode. Any letter you place correctly counts as decoded: it locks into the answer line and its strokes vanish from the glyph, leaving a simpler shape to read. A letter that belongs in the word but sits in the wrong slot is marked as found, and the glyph colors it in so you can pick it out. Lock in every letter before your four tries run out to reveal the word. Counters beneath the board track attempts, letters decoded and letters found, and the puzzle is also offered as an app on the App Store and Google Play.
Good if you like…
- Cyphr: Cyphr is another decoding puzzle, though its seven encrypted words sit in a pyramid and are cracked row by row, all drawing on a single pool of letter guesses.
- Polygonle: Polygonle also hides a word behind shapes, with each symbol standing in for one letter, and you solve it over six Wordle-style tries instead of four.
- Lettary: Lettary also starts by hunting down the letters of a hidden word, using six guesses to collect five of them, and then asks you to unscramble them into the answer.
- FoxiMax: FoxiMax is about uncovering a concealed word through letter guesses as well, but wrong letters pile on extra words to crack, and the game stops after eight of them.
