About Tip the Scales
Tip the Scales puts a brass balance in front of you and a set of odd things to load onto it, from an anvil to a rubber duck to a watermelon. You drag items onto notches along the beam, trying to spread the weight so neither side drops. When the arrangement looks right, you press Weigh and let the physics play out.
Each of the day's five loads gets a single weighing, so there is no testing and adjusting after you commit. There is no clock either, which leaves plenty of time to think. Your score depends on how close to perfectly level the beam settles, and a new set of loads appears at midnight New York time.
How to play
- Look at the items in the load and judge which ones are heavy.
- Drag each item onto a notch along the beam.
- Press Weigh once you are happy with the arrangement.
- Check how level the balance settled, then move on to the next load.
Tips
- A heavy item close to the pivot can balance a light one far out on the other side, so use the beam's length.
- Take your time before pressing Weigh, since there is no clock and only one weighing per load.
Time and controls
A round takes about 3–5 minutes. Drag items onto the beam with a finger or mouse, then press Weigh.
