About Exactly
Each Exactly puzzle deals six number cards and shows a target number. You build toward the target by choosing a card, then an operation, then another card, and the pair combines into a result. Keep combining until you land on the target itself, using addition, subtraction, multiplication and division as needed.
Three sums make up the day, and they get harder as you go, starting easy and ending hard. Everyone works on the same three, and a new set is posted at midnight New York time. The name sums up the goal: an exact hit on the target number.
How to play
- Look at the six cards and the target number.
- Tap a card, then an operation sign, then a second card.
- Keep combining results until you reach the target.
- Solve all three sums to finish the day.
Tips
- Work backward from the target: look for a product or sum of two cards that gets you close, then fix the gap.
- Multiplying two cards is often the quickest route to a large target, with the small cards saved to adjust at the end.
Time and controls
A round takes about 3–6 minutes. Tap cards and signs on a phone; on a computer, click them or type 1 to 6 and the four math signs.
