What Pixletters is
Pixletters replaces the usual letter tiles of Wordle with tiny pixel drawings: when a guessed letter is wrong, the game tells you which pixels the correct letter in that slot does or does not have. The basic board gives five tries, and the daily menu offers three five-letter boards, plain, Plus and Pro, with a six-letter version kept to the app.
How a round works
Type any valid word of five letters, and each letter comes back as a small grid of pixels. A slot drawn in blue means that letter already sits in the right place. In a wrong slot only the top row of pixels gets colored: green pixels must be part of the hidden letter there, red ones must not, and the rows below stay gray because nothing is known about them yet. A miss still narrows down the shape of the missing letter, and a five-screen tutorial over the first daily board explains the system. A countdown on the home screen shows when the next daily words arrive, and the maker, Nebula Bytes, links to a newer game, Betweenle.
Good if you like…
- Drawdle: Drawdle mixes pixels and Wordle the other way round: you choose five-letter words whose colors, scored on the hidden word, paint each row of a pixel picture.
- Fibble: Fibble keeps ordinary letter tiles but makes the clues unreliable, one wrong color per row, so like Pixletters it turns each guess into careful reading rather than a plain yes or no.
- Reversle: Reversle reworks how Wordle feedback is used as well: given the answer and the colored rows, you supply words that would produce them, instead of decoding hints toward an unknown word.
- Onedle: Onedle relies on the same close reading of colored clues, but it hands you all the clues up front and allows only one guess at the hidden word.
Who makes it
Pixletters is made by Nebula Bytes, whose other daily game listed here is Betweenle.
