What Tiltanic is
Tiltanic is an arcade game in which a small boat floats on water that sloshes as if held in a tank: you steer by tilting your phone, and the boat has to ride its own waves through a line of gates. Every player on a given date sails the same course, so scores on the daily leaderboard can be compared fairly.
How a round works
Tap set sail and the boat moves forward by itself while gates approach, most made of an anchor hanging down and a mine floating up. Dipping the phone's left edge raises the boat and dipping the right edge lowers it; a computer takes the mouse or the arrow keys instead. Each gate cleared scores a point, and touching an anchor or mine sinks the run, with a word such as too high or too much naming the cause. There is no clock and no cap on retries. Gaps tighten up to gate 40, and the scenery shifts as the score climbs, toward a lava sea and a whale's belly. A gentler warm-up for newcomers stays off the leaderboard.
When Tiltanic resets
Tiltanic follows the clock on your own device: the next puzzle unlocks at midnight wherever you are, so a player in New York gets it at 12:00 a.m. Eastern time, hours after players in Europe.
When the other daily games reset is on one page of reset times.
Good if you like…
- Thirty Gates: Thirty Gates is also about threading gates without touching the edges, but you rise by holding a tap and fall by letting go, and only the highest of three tries counts.
- Daily Grapple: Daily Grapple shares the one-course-for-everyone idea, with a grappling hook swinging you through a generated level against the clock instead of a boat on waves.
- Bell Dash: Bell Dash is another short reflex run on a course common to all players that day, switching between three lanes to grab notes and dodge blocks rather than tilting to steer.
- Minigolfle: Minigolfle also hands everyone the same generated course each day, here three mini golf holes where banking the ball off walls saves strokes.
