About Droply
Droply deals the same thirty letters to every player each day and lets them fall, one by one, into a board five columns wide and six rows tall. You choose the column and the letter slides to the lowest free square, a little like a counter in Connect Four. Words score wherever they line up straight: across, down or on a diagonal, and reading backwards or upwards counts as well.
A preview of what is coming and a single hold space let you plan a few moves ahead, and nothing is timed, so each drop can take as long as you like. Longer words are worth far more than short ones, smaller words tucked inside bigger ones add to the total, and a board where every tile belongs to some word earns a large bonus at the end. A fresh set of letters arrives at midnight New York time.
How to play
- Look at the letter in hand and the two queued up behind it.
- Tap a column to drop the letter into its lowest empty square.
- Line letters up into words in any straight direction, forwards or backwards.
- Park an awkward letter in Hold and swap it back in when it fits.
- Fill all thirty squares to see your final score and the bonus.
Tips
- Leave the top of a column open when an S or an E is about to arrive.
- Diagonal words need neighbouring columns of the right heights, so set those up a few drops early.
Time and controls
A round takes about 3–6 minutes. On a phone, tap a column to drop the letter and tap Hold to keep one for later; on a computer, click a column or press 1 to 5, and press H to hold.
