Games like Colordle

Updated

One mystery color a day is the whole of Colordle, and each puzzle carries a number (November 4, 2026 was Day 1685). Instead of mixing paint or moving sliders, you type the names of colors from a fixed list and press Test Color, and each guess comes back with a percentage: the nearer your pick is to the hidden shade, the higher the number. Working out which way to move, toward a warmer red or a paler blue, from a handful of named colors is the puzzle, and nudging that figure toward 100 is what keeps players at it.

Dejahue leads because it also scores how near you land to a target shade. After it come games where a color's name points to a swatch, then games where you dial in a hidden color by sliders or hex code with feedback, a color memory test, and finally a word game built on the same closeness feedback.

1

Dejahue

gamefinity.io · Visual

Shares Colordle's closeness scoring, but the target shade appears for a moment first and you recreate it with a color picker from memory, five times a day, rather than hunting for it by name.

Close Hue

closehue.com · Visual

Works from color names, as Colordle does, but in reverse: you read a name, wine for instance, and pick out the color it suggests to you, with five names daily, scored on how close your pick looks to the true shade.

ColorGuesser

colorguesser.com · Visual

Another name-to-color game: each of five daily color names has to be found on a color wheel, with up to 100 points per round depending on how close you land, the mirror image of Colordle's approach.

Chroma

greatest.games · Visual

Ties colors to real paint names: you see a shade's name from a paint maker's range, Dulux among them, and choose the swatch it belongs to, across a few rounds, linking names and colors the way Colordle does.

Crayondle

crayondle.com · Visual

Starts from a named crayon and asks you to mix its color using sliders for red, green and blue, with a single attempt, plus an easy setting where a photo of the crayon is shown, a name-led challenge like Colordle's.

The Daily Hue

thedailyhue.com · Visual

A hidden color hunt with feedback, like Colordle, though you set hue, saturation and lightness with sliders rather than naming colors; the target comes from the day's artwork, and arrows narrow it over five guesses.

Colorle

colorle.org · Visual

You close in on an unknown color by adjusting its RGB channels or entering a hex code, guided by feedback markers, a more technical cousin of Colordle that also offers a hard mode.

8

Hexcodle

hexcodle.com · Visual

Turns the closeness hunt into numbers: you enter hex codes for a displayed color, and every digit is flagged high, low or correct, with a shorter Mini version for a quicker round.

9

Hexle

frankljin.github.io · Visual

Wordle-style feedback on a hex color: six attempts, where green means a character is in place and yellow means it belongs elsewhere, and the page itself is painted in the answer once you know where to look.

Colorfle

colorfle.com · Visual

Asks how a color was made rather than what it is called: you deduce the three colors and the proportions behind a target swatch, getting a percentage for accuracy after each of six attempts.

Dialed GG

dialedgg.app · Visual

A memory version of color matching: a color flashes, then you rebuild it by adjusting brightness, saturation and hue, five rounds a game, judged on how different the two colors look to the eye.

Contexto

contexto.me · Words

Leaves color behind but keeps Colordle's warmer-or-colder loop: every word you type is ranked by how close its meaning is to the secret word, with unlimited guesses, until you reach number one.

Questions

How do you play Colordle?

Type a color name from the game's fixed list and press Test Color. The game tells you, as a percentage, how close your shade is to the mystery color, and a higher number means nearer. Use each result to steer the next pick, keeping what pushed the number up and dropping what pulled it down, until you reach the exact shade.

Is there a new Colordle every day?

Yes. Each puzzle is numbered by day, and the puzzle for November 4, 2026 carried the number 1685, so the game has been running for years. For more shade games after the daily, Close Hue and ColorGuesser also start from a color's name, and Dejahue asks you to rebuild five briefly shown shades from memory.

What if I prefer mixing colors to naming them?

Crayondle has you blend red, green and blue to match a named crayon, The Daily Hue gives you five guesses with sliders for lightness, saturation and hue, and Colorfle asks which three colors went into a swatch and in what amounts. Hexcodle and Hexle go further and work entirely in hex codes.
