What The Split is
The Split puts one two-sided question to the whole planet each day and asks you for two things: your own answer and a forecast of how everyone else will answer. Results stay sealed until the day closes, so the forecast is a pure read of other people, and how near it lands goes on your record.
How a round works
Pick one of the two sides first, which unlocks the forecast slider. It starts at 50 percent, and leaving it there counts once you touch it. At 00:00 UTC the reveal goes up: the share each side won, the average forecast against the real result, a world map lit brighter where a country's majority was larger, and the arguments each side posted before the split was visible. A country's own split appears once it reaches 30 votes. Forecasts are judged by how far they miss, and a leaderboard ranks the sharpest callers apart from the writers whose reasoning changed the most minds. No account is needed; a private record page keeps your calls.
Good if you like…
- Roomio: Roomio is the closest relative: you answer yes or no and then guess what share of players agreed with you, but there are three questions a day instead of one.
- SheepVote: SheepVote also gathers the world's answers to one question a day, but there you aim for the option you expect the fewest people to choose, rather than forecasting a percentage.
- At What Point?: At What Point also has you predict the crowd and give your own view, across five questions about everyday thresholds, such as when a burger price feels too high.
- Estimania: Estimania scores guesses by distance too, but the targets are hard facts, five themed number questions a day, rather than a forecast of how people will vote.
